Keeping the peace

What is the definition of peace? According to Merriam-Webster:

1: a state of tranquility or quiet: such as

a : freedom from civil disturbance
  • Peace and order were finally restored in the town.
b : a state of security or order within a community provided for by law or custom
  • a breach of the peace

2 : freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions
  • I have been in perfect peace and contentment
  • —J. H. Newman

3 : harmony in personal relations
  • The sisters are at peace with each other.

4 a : a state or period of mutual concord between governments
  • There was a peace of 50 years before war broke out again.

b : a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity
  • offered the possibility of a negotiated peace
  • New York Times

5 used interjectionally to ask for silence or calm or as a greeting or farewell

The number 3 definition: "harmony in personal relations" is an interesting point but of all the definitions, none of them includes name calling or talking down to another person.  When someone claims "I'm just trying to keep the peace." and then the next breath, insults a fellow human being, how exactly are they keeping the peace? How does "keeping the peace" make someone superior to another? Because one persons ideas are different from another person, does that make ether one wrong? Belittling someone because of that or for anything purpose is "keeping the peace"?
My concept of peace? Not killing others because they have what you want like Desert Storm, not talking down to a fellow human and most defiantly not thinking I am superior to another person, like our current president... For any purpose.

Keeping the peace is not building a wall to keep others out nor is it insulting another human for ones beliefs, religion or color of the skin. Kicking in doors because you fear what someone might do, is not a way to keep the peace and nether is taking what is not yours.
